Since 2016, Canadawideweed.com has only carried Cannatek Dab Pens. We tried Flyte. We tried Alair. We tried every competitor we could get our hands on. At CWW we are simply dedicated to only carrying the best quality products. One thing we have never carried is any kind of butane product. That is an automatic no for us and in fact the Canadian government has made butane extractions illegal. We also don’t like distillate extractions because we like to have full spectrum extractions.
What does Full Spectrum oil mean?
Full spectrum oil means that the only thing that is removed during the extraction process is the green plant material. This is a way of concentrating the cannabis while maintaining the chemical compounds and flavour profiles of the plant. The chemical compounds are known as cannabinoids. These are the popular THC and CBD that many of you reading this are familiar with. Did you know that there is actually 113 different cannabinoids in the cannabis plant? CBG and CBN are just now becoming known for extraction as well as THC-A. The point of this information is that co2 extraction preserves all these cannabinoids. The percentages of these compounds work in natural harmony to create the overall medical effect of the plant. This is commonly referred to as the entourage effect in the cannabis world. The other part of the plant that is retained in the co2 extraction process is the terpenes. Many of you have likely seen that companies are listing the terpenes that are present in various cannabis flowers. Terpenes are what give the cannabis flowers their aroma and flavour. They too are also important for the medicinal properties of various strains.
Difference between CO2 and Distillate Extracts
CO2
CO2 is used as a non-toxic solvent for extracting cannabinoids. With enough pressure CO2 will maintain a liquid state. During CO2 extraction the liquid CO2 dissolves and separates the cannabinoids and terpenes from the cannabis plant matter. This process creates a concentrated cannabinoid oil. Any remaining CO2 in the cannabis oil quickly evaporates creating a waxy, solvent free cannabis concentrate. When it is made properly it is a light amber coloured oil, as you can see with Cannatek oil. Most information online will state that CO2 oil will range in potency from 50% – 70% THC. Cannatek’s propriety extraction methods and high quality AAAA cannabis flowers ensure that the potency is at minimum 70% THC. Often they have vape carts available with 75% – 79% THC. Occasionally they will find a strain that is so potent that it tests at 80%+. The highest percentage they ever extracted was some years ago, when a Lindsey Kush strain brought back a 95% THC test.
DISTILLATE
Distillate extractions were primarily done to extract a higher % of THC. The distillation process is used to separate components of plant by knowing their various boiling points. This is a common practice when making alcohol in which toxic methanol is removed and you are left with concentrated ethanol. Cannabis distillate can be made in a fairly crude manner, simply by heating the cannabinoids to their boiling point. The cannabinoid vapour condenses and then is collected in a new container while leaving behind the chlorophyll and other plant materials. Cannabis distillate usually ends up with a purer THC content of 80% t0 90%, but other cannabinoids and terpenes are burned off in the process as well. Often times, people try to “reintroduce” terpenes back into their distillate. This is essentially like adding food colouring or using artificial or even natural flavours. It’s never the same as the whole food.
No Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerin
Cannatek CO2 Dab Pen Carts are pure oil. The beauty of the CO2 extraction process is that it separates the waxes and plant material in the oil well enough that it is viscous enough to be vaped. Other oil rely on Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG) to thin the oil. This makes the oil viscous enough to be vaped properly. Many of the health problems and even deaths that you hear from vaping come from the “cutting” agents that are being used in low quality cartridges. These include nicotine as well as cannabis cartridges. It is very important that the end user understands that Cannatek is a medicinal formula and is made for that use in mind. All Cannatek oil is lab tested and certified by MB Labs, a Health Canada certified lab for cannabis. Other brands claim they are lab tested, but are done by clandestine labs that are not Health Canada certified.
Convenient and classy.
Smoking can be a serious problem for many people. Cannabis is now legal but that still doesn’t make it socially acceptable to light up a joint just anywhere. Most Strata based apartments and condos have rules about smoking inside. When we do deliveries their are constantly messages posted in lobbies about cannabis smoke no a days.
